About

I'm Lukas. I live in Tirol and spend most of my free time on trails in summer and on skins in winter. Run.Ski.Tirol started as notes for myself and friends: where to park, which way to go, and how sketchy the sketchy bit really is.
Find me on Instagram at @the.running.nomad or on LinkedIn. Corrections and guest post ideas are welcome: contact@runskitirol.com.
Every route here is one I or a guest author did. Guest posts are marked at the top and credit the author. Photos are our own, and credited on each post.
How routes are rated
Each route gets five ratings from 1 to 10. They compare routes on this site with each other; they aren't an official scale.
| Technical | How hard the terrain is to move on: from forest roads (1) to exposed scrambling with fixed ropes (8+). |
|---|---|
| Fitness | How much the distance and vertical take out of you. |
| Objective danger | What can go wrong that isn't about your skill: exposure, rockfall, avalanche terrain, weather. Shown in red. |
| Landscape | How much the views are worth the effort. |
| Busy | How many people you'll meet on a nice day. |
Length and vertical are what I measured or planned, set by hand. GPS tracks often get them wrong, so the GPX is only used for the map and the elevation profile.
Safety
Moving in the mountains is dangerous. Conditions change from day to day; descriptions here are not current conditions. Check the weather and, in winter, the avalanche report before you go.
